Voices of Angels

Voices of Angels
‘One couldn't help noticing the unforced purity of sound and trueness of pitch in the individual voices as they proceeded past to create a delicately luminous web around the hall … as much fun as any of us had had since our fifth birthday party.’ Peter McCallum, Sydney Morning Herald May 2007. Let the voices of the acclaimed Sydney Children’s Choir and Gondwana Voices choir lift your spirits this Christmas in a concert of enchanting carols and fun new music that celebrates the magic of the festive season.Conducted by Lyn Williams OAM and hosted by James Valentine, the choirs (of more than 200 children) will be accompanied by a chamber orchestra to perform much loved works such as Silent Night and O Come All Ye Faithful as well as the fresh and fun new sounds of Australian Christmas.
This year 702 ABC Sydney’s James Valentine adds “composer” to his many talents and has written three songs, titled Three Christmas Cards, especially for the choirs offering a humorous commentary on contemporary Australian Christmas culture.

Gondwana Voices, established by Artistic Director Lyn Williams in 1997, is Australia’s national children’s choir and is made up of singers aged 10-16 from every state and territory in Australia. Sydney Children’s Choir is one of the world’s most innovative children’s choirs. They have commissioned over 50 works from leading Australian composers, performing a significant number of Australian compositions each year. Due to popular demand, this year there will be two performances of Voices of Angels. You can celebrate Christmas with Voices of Angels on Sunday 16 December at 3pm and Monday 17 December at 7pm at City Recital Hall Angel Place. Updated repertoire for Out Of The Blue Concert 10/11/07

Hello Sydney Pop Choir

Due to the fact that Out of The Blue will be performing Fields Of Gold we've had to revise our repertoire for Saturday evening.

I Want You Back. - {choreograpy - will minimal subtle movements.}

Fever/Light My Fire. {Don't forget softs and louds, make repeated phrases sound different.}

IN THIS HEART -{"My Love"= "Maa Laarv"}

Stand By Me. {Remember when soloists are performing the rest of us are providing background accompaniment}

Brain Damage. - {Remember to sing with rather stunned/crazy/insane demeanour - bring out the inner 'rock god' at appropriate places in the song}

Farewell & Goodnight. {Remember great "OOO expression"}

Freedom Train - to be sung with Out Of The Blue Singers - don't rush it, remember to emphasise freedom - it's been a long time a comin'.......

Remember to sing "the" as "thar"

Please be at the club at 5.30pm. Wear your red and black polo shirts to the gig as well as at the sound check. Thank you.

Have a safe trip to Port Kembla. (Did you know that Kembla is an aboriginal word meaning "plenty of wild fowl").

Australian of the Year State Finalists

Hi everyone

Following on from the wonderful work that Jonathon Welch has done with the
Choir Of Hark Knocks, it seems has has been nominated for the Local Hero Award of Victoria. See the link below (Australian Pop Choir gets a mention too!! ooooh).

Our heartiest congratulations to Jonathon on this wonderful nomination.

Plus, former Pop Kid Bianca Moon is a State Finalist for NSW (1 of 4) in the Young Australian of the Year category of the awards. She's got some stiff competition from Casey Stoner, but it's wonderful that she's made it to the finals.

Have a great week
